WE ARE CREATING LEGENDS!!!
The first Shikoku Kennel in Germany!
We focused on training and waited for Reiko's papers. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we started a little later than planned. Nevertheless, our kennel was the first to be inspected and approved by our breeding supervisor on June 13, 2020. Official FCI approval with our names was granted on September 9, 2020.
On September 28, 2020, thanks to a special permit, we were able to welcome the first Shikoku litter in Germany!
Why Nihon's Legend?
We spent a long time thinking about the name of our kennel. No one should underestimate the effort and work involved.
For a Japanese breed, only a Japanese name was considered. But for our predominantly German clientele, this was no easy hurdle. The next sticking point is that the name should be short and simple. The puppy name must not exceed 40 characters. We continued to think about whether we should also consider German or English variations. We needed four suggestions for the application. After much and lengthy consideration, we had some great ideas. The day of truth came and we asked people in our circle which names they found simple, understandable and easy. To our great surprise, this was, among other things, Nihon's LegendThe large list of names became a small one. We compared this with the FCI's public kennel name list. The list became even smaller, but Nihon's Legend also overcame this hurdle and thus received our application.
So what does this name mean? What does it mean for us?
Nihon, along with Nippon, is the Japanese word for Japan. Legend comes from English and means legend. Our puppies are therefore called "Japan's Legend" in English. Puppy name".
We wanted a simple, short, yet strong and meaningful name for our kennel. We think we have found this in Nihon's Legend In addition to a Japanese word, we deliberately chose a simple English addition. We believe the name is very relatable to everyone.
Nihon - Japan, it is a passion and love that is unparalleled. That's why we have dedicated our website not only to our children or the Shikoku, but to all NIHON KEN as well as to Japanese culture and history. That's why we don't use the somewhat more familiar word Japan chosen.
Legend - Legends, sagas, and myths, epics that are unparalleled. I love fairy tales and the like. So it's no surprise that we create new ones through the conscious choice and combination of our kennel and puppy names. We want to educate and enchant. To bring meaning closer, because we're forgetting our culture in these hectic times.
