Xindra - our XiniMini

Xindra was born on October 10, 2016. Kitaro was always a very friendly and outgoing dog, not a solitary dog. So he was allowed to find a companion. After much back and forth, the decision was made, and Kitaro had the choice. He chose Jette. A ragged little Chinese firecracker. Certainly not a great description, but that's what she looked like back then. A dirty red coat and a black tail. She was a bright, cheeky little dog with a mischievous streak when things didn't go her way. Nevertheless, you can feel the deep bond between the two. "Searched and found" describes it perfectly.

Fettchen can be off-leash. She listens well, but sometimes succumbs to peer pressure. Her new nickname is "Brocken Witch." She recently lost her first tooth, and the next one is wobbly and suspiciously loose.

Unlike the others, she has an intelligent hunting instinct. Why intelligent? Because she doesn't just blindly chase the lure, but rather chooses the best path. She turns around or gives up more quickly to search for a more optimal solution. If it looks promising, she goes full throttle.

She has one major drawback: she likes to take mice....

Our little XiniMini was the beginning of our veterinary odyssey. She started coughing overnight. For no apparent reason or effort. It was long and persistent, and she was literally gasping for air. We never noticed any other abnormalities during our annual checkup. However, in the first X-ray and later ultrasound, we saw a so-called "balloon heart," and the EKG also showed a skip in every third heartbeat. Well, the diagnosis is very surprising. She has DCM, a heart condition that usually affects giant breeds like Dobermans, Rottweilers, Irish Wolfhounds, Great Danes, and the like. We've started her on medication and supported her with nutritional supplements. Mini has no more problems, and everything seems fine so far.
